Nino Haratischwili (GE-DE)

The Georgian-German Nino Haratischwili achieved her international breakthrough with the novel Det ottende liv (The Eighth Life). A captivating novel about love, war, and revolution that follows a Georgian family’s dramatic life through the 20th century.
In her 2023 novel Det manglende lys (The Lack of Light), Haratischwili returns to Tbilisi and tells the story of four young women’s friendship and upbringing in Georgia in the 1980s and 90s. With her unique ability to connect personal fates together with historical events, Haratischwili elegantly portrays her country’s history.
Haratischwili (b. 1983) is born in Tbilisi and lives in Hamburg. She is also a playwright and has written both novels and plays. Det ottende liv, was nominated for the 2020 Booker International Prize and has awarded her several prestigious literary prizes.
