Liliana Colanzi (BO)

In Bolivian author Liliana Colanzi’s short story collection, Nuestro mundo muerto (Our Dead World), the door is opened to a world of the unknown. Here we meet, among others, a woman on a mission to Mars, a cannibal in Paris, and a young girl chased by the All-Seeing Eye.

Colanzi’s writing is about death, illness, superstition, and resistance. In her universe the disturbing and supernatural creeps into everyday life. The native Bolivian culture is always present as a sensuous and political backdrop. She debuted in 2010 and has since then published several short story collections. Vores døde verden (Our Dead World) has been translated to Danish, and this summer her latest short story collection Ustedes brillan en lo oscuro (You Glow in the Dark) will be published in Danish as well.

She has received many literary awards, including the Aura Estrada Prize, and is among the 39 chosen writers in the Bogotá39 anthology, that highlights the most promising young writers in Latin America.
