The German author Daniela Dröscher has recently published the novel Lügen über meine Mutter in Danish with the title Løgne om min mor, for which she was shortlisted for the Deutscher Buchpreis. Lügen über meine Mutter is a tale of a dysfunctional family life and a woman's years-long struggle to control her own body and life. The novel is a chamber play about patriarchy, brimming with protest and love, as well as a clear-sighted analysis of the social norms that determine our desires and actions against the backdrop of 1980s West Germany.

Dröscher has written novels, short story collections, essays, and plays. Her debut novel, Die Lichter des George Psalmanazar, was published in 2009, followed by the short story collection Gloria in 2010. She has been awarded the Anna Seghers Prize, the German Literature Fund's working grant, and the Robert Gernhardt Prize for her literary work.
