Alice Zeniter, født i 1986, er en fransk forfatter og dramaturg. Hun studerede ved École Normale Supérieure og har undervist på Sorbonne, samt undervist fransk i Ungarn, hvor hun også har boet i flere år. Hun debuterede i 2003 som 16-årig med bogen 'Deux moins un égal zéro' (‘To minus ét er lig nul’), og siden da har hun udgivet fire bøger. Hendes seneste udgivelse er romanen 'L’Art de perdre' (‘Kunsten at miste’), der udkom I 2017 med stor kritikerros. Hun vandt desuden Goncourt-ungdomsprisen og Renaudot-ungdomsprisen. Den danske oversættelse udkommer i foråret 2019 ved forlaget Etcetera. Det er en fortælling om identitet, immigration, integration og følelsen at høre til. Den følger en algerisk familie gennem tre generationer, samt Algeriets selvstændighedskrig.

Som datter af en algerisk far og en fransk mor er Zeniter en del af en ny generation i Frankrig, som har en dobbelt kulturel identitet. Denne har hun dog har været i stand til at dechifrere og ophøje gennem ord og litteratur.

Alice Zeniter (France)

Alice Zeniter was born in 1986 in France to an Algerian father and a French mother. She was a student at L’École Normale Supérieure – one of the most prestigious schools in France – and then became a teacher, in France as well as in Hungary. She is a novelist and has published 5 books so far, but she is also very passionate about theatre. She has collaborated with numerous theatre directors and works as a playwright as well.

Her first novel, 'Deux moins un égal zéro' (‘Two minus one equals zero’), was published in 2003 when she was only 16 years old. Her latest novel, 'L’Art de perdre' (‘The art of losing’), was published in 2017 to critical acclaim, as well as winning the Prix Goncourt des Lycéens. The book is set to come in Danish in the spring of 2019 at the publishing house Etcetera under the title ‘Kunsten at miste’. It is a story of identity, immigration, integration and sense of belonging. It depicts the story of an Algerian family through three generations and the Algerian War of Independence.

Alice Zeniter embodies a new generation carrying a double culture and a double identity that she has been able to decipher and enhance through words.
